The Fourth.
I realize it's been over a week since the celebration of U.S. independence, but I've been busy, so bear with me.
We spent the 4th of July with my parents, after our camping with The Little and Jonah's experience of having his grandparents all to himself for two days and nights.
I like visiting my parents because everything is simple. I know what they expect. I know what they think about things. I know how to behave. I get the social cues and mores and subtleties effortlessly. It's comfortable.
And they have a fire pit.
There isn't this insane concern with how dangerous it is for kids to be kids. I don't get stares when I let them climb things and jump off of things and sit fully clothed in the lake water. And thus... the 4th was allowed to be magical.
