This is my first time blogging here with things as "permission only" and such.
I'm not all that excited about this development for a myriad of reasons, but hopefully, after we get on the road, I can loosen the reins again without any fear of repercussions.
Brief update:
- I sustained a concussion due to a blow to the head from the Mobile's hatchback Monday evening. I'm not fully recovered. I suffered short term memory loss and have had a lot of trouble completing menial tasks without serious mental effort (like making tea or Jonah's lunch). I've also had trouble multi-tasking. I am honestly getting better by the minute and taking the evening off of acting coaching to rest my brain and work toward a full recovery.
- I'm hoping to get back to running again once this injury is healed. I can't wait, honestly, now that things are cooling down again and rain is frequent.
- Jonah and school are quite the match. Things have been going well this week and the end of last. I wrote to his teacher asking how she felt he was doing and she seems to enjoy having him in class very much. The difference between forced to go to school and choosing to go to school is obvious. School will always be a choice for us. Period. He got his first round of homework today, including spelling words. I still hate the public school system, but if it's what he wants to do I'm supporting him in his journey. I enjoyed school when I went - and there are things to be garnished from school that don't include the parts I hate about it - like lasting friendships and new interests and access to great equipment and resources.
- Jonah is currently at his first night of hip-hop/tap class. Immediately afterward he'll be headed to his first night of cub scouts. He's happy. I'm so happy for him. He made transitions well today. We are talking about way to cope with transitioning and we're all working together to make things easier for all of our spirited brood.
- I'll be writing a book review very soon on Raising Your Spirited Child by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka. It's life-changing and wonderful. I highly recommend it if your child is more sensitive, energetic, and emotional than average.
- Maeryn begins tap/ballet class on Friday. She's so excited she can barely stand it. She has worn her leotard and skirt around the house almost every day for the past week.
- We still don't have the bus in our possession. The bus folk are taking the seats out for us at no charge. We figured this was a good deal, though I am impatient.
- Michael is brainstorming with a good friend who is also a creative architect about the bus plans. Collaboration = fun!
Special thanks to all of you who are still reading. Things feel a little strange, knowing that this is only going out to a limited audience, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
