Remembering the Alamo

Of course we couldn't leave San Antonio without visiting the Alamo.

It just seemed... too iconic to miss.

So we went.

We found some decent parking downtown and watched the movie and toured the little museum and went into the chapel.

We saw where women and children were held to keep them safe during the siege as the Texans held their ground even unto death.

It's pretty inspiring, not gonna lie.

Also... Daniel Boone hats...

Once the Alamo closed and all were forced out by heavily armed Texas Rangers, we decided to check out the famous River Walk.

Which was really pretty.

And would probably be especially awesome and really super romantic if it was just you and your husband and you had somebody cool to watch your kids.  And money to splurge on a fancy restaurant.  And a boat taxi thingie.

We did end up at the Hard Rock...  it just seems like the place to go when you can go, you know?  We had just enough money for everyone to get the food they wanted if Michael and I shared.  The waitress was insanely nice and gave us a free kids meal because she is awesome.  So we gave her a giant tip with the money we saved.

We made it back to the parking lot just before we'd be charged more money and home just before total sleep-time meltdown.

All in all, a successful day.

Plus...History!

And... 'Merica!

And oh yes... Texas!

And Daniel Boone hats!!!!
