Elk County Campground

We've told you about a few of our favorite campgrounds in the past.

Elk County Campground is absolutely positively on the list.

If you ever venture into Northern California, it's the place to be.

Wide open gorgeous parking spaces, fire pits, picnic tables, and a herd of elk just chillin' all around you.

When we arrived late at night, the camp host came out to meet us and in the morning we had free firewood and a bag of marshmallows waiting outside the bus door "for the kids".  I wrote more about our camp host, his rock collection, and amazing hospitality here

The campground is just minutes from Redwoods State and National Forest and the Pacific Ocean, where waves are breaking hard against driftwood and black rocks.

If we come back to California in the future, we will book there again, stay in tents, and roast marshmallows every night.

Michael and I stayed out at the fire after the kids went in and did a little swing dancing to the music in our minds.  We're romantic like that.
